St Mary’s is an all-ability, 11 - 18 all girls’ post primary school situated in the Northland Road in Derry. It has a pupil population of approximately 870 and a staffing number of just over 100 strong. The school opened in Creggan in 1959 and through the Sisters of Mercy provided a vital and outstanding education and support to its many pupils. In 2010 the school moved to the Northland Road into a state of the art educational campus and has continued to build on its reputation as a school of excellence for all abilities. 

St Mary’s College remains very proud of and fully committed to its Catholic Ethos. It is a school steeped in and formed by its proud and distinguished history and it is these Sisters of Mercy and Gospel values that continue to shape everything we do at the school. The school is an important part of the Templemore Parish and we maintain strong and active links with St Eugene’s Cathedral. 

As a Christ centred school, we place the pupil at the centre of everything we do. Our wraparound provision will ensure our pupils grow, flourish and mature within a vibrant, progressive and exciting teaching and learning environment.

St Mary’s College is an award winning school in many subjects and disciplines, is a fervent supporter of Shared Education, has the unique provision (in partnership with Lisneal College) of a Saturday Well-being Club and has popular Homework and Breakfast Clubs. 

St Mary’s College is a hugely popular choice for our primary seven pupils and we are fortunate to have such excellent primary schools in the Foyle area.
